A cosmetic surgical procedure, liposuction helps in sculpting the body through the removal of unwanted fat from specific parts of the body so as to obtain a more defined shape. This form of surgical liposuction is also known as Liposculpture or suction-assisted lipectomy. It is used frequently in conjunction with Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty procedure that helps in removing the excess tissue and skin to give a complete body sculpting experience.

You can exercise or diet all you like, but there are always some areas of the body that contain stubborn fat deposits that refuse to shift. Thanks to our busy lives, our body is subjected to endless suffering and it gains excess fat at an alarming rate as we age, thus putting our precious health at peril. Finding a suitable solution to get that desirable body back is not an impossible task, thanks largely to such procedures like liposuction.

The Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction treatment can be carried out on seemingly any exposed part of the body – knees, breasts, upper arms, chin, abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks – as long as the candidate is suitable for treatment. Liposuction cannot be regarded as an alternative to exercise or dieting and is not a good choice for those candidates who wish to lose significant amounts of weight.

It can take anywhere between 1 to 3 hours to complete the procedure, depending on the number of areas being subject to treatment. Some patients can have their treatment completed in a day while for others an overnight stay in the hospital could be required for monitoring.

The Liposuction Results

Depending on the patient and the extent to which the procedure needs to be conducted, liposuction generally requires more downtime than VASER liposuction. Strenuous activity and exercise need to be avoided for a considerable number of weeks following the procedure, but patients can resume their regular life otherwise in a few weeks. Once the swelling subsides during the recovery period you will really be able to appreciate the stellar results that our medical team affords to the patients.

Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck and Liposuction Combination

The problem is not always excess fat. Your skin could have lost its elasticity due to sudden weight loss or pregnancy. In such a scenario, the best possible solution would be a combined abdominoplasty and liposuction procedure during which excess fat and skin gets removed to leave behind an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

This has become part of what is now famously known as the “mommy makeover” and is a popular choice among all people irrespective of their age.

VASER Lipo vs. Liposuction

The Private Clinic offers both traditional liposuction as well as VASER Liposuction. VASER Lipo is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure that aids in the removal of stubborn fat pockets from the problematic parts of the body that are disproportionate to the rest of the body. Initially, small pockets of fat are targeted and broken down by the VASER technology. These are then removed through a small cannula and suction tubes without causing any damage to the surrounding tissues. Find out more about VASER Lipo here. Our doctors take care of around 2000 liposuction treatments annually.

Advantages of VASER Lipo:

  • This is a minimally invasive procedure
  • This is a walk-in walk-out procedure
  • It does not require an overnight stay
  • It does not require the use of general anesthesia

Nowadays, most of our patients tend to prefer the VASER liposuction over the more invasive traditional liposuction method. As a less invasive technique, it has a shorter post-surgery recovery time. Also, there are no risks that are typically associated with the use of general anesthesia. In the year just concluded we performed as many as 1,500 minimally invasive liposuction procedures.

Advantages of Surgical Liposuction

Liposuction is the best procedure to get the desired results for patients wanting to lose weight as long as they are the right candidate for the surgery. Larger patients, for instance, may not be ideal for VASER Lipo. Since both procedures are offered, our medical team can help you get a balanced advice so that you can make the best-informed decision possible for yourself.

The ideal liposuction candidate should have an average weight with firm, elastic skin and pockets of excess fat in certain areas of the body. They should also have realistic expectations about the results.

While liposuction can provide substantial improvements on occasion, it cannot be considered as a weight-loss technique or a solution to obesity. It is also not an effective cellulite treatment. Ideally, any treatment should be looked upon as a compliment to proper diet and regular exercise rather than the replacement to a healthy lifestyle.
